Rose Parade Rally Day 1

Ever since we went to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in 2009 we have talked about going to the Rose Parade rally.  We finally decided to do it this year.  There are plans for 29 trailers to be parked in a local school district parking lot.  The parking was to start on Sunday at 10:30am and conclude at 4pm.

We could have driven down on Sunday and make the parking time but we decided to do something that we did before.  We left around 5pm on Saturday and made it to Valencia/Santa Clarita/Stevenson Ranch (take your pick) and spent the night in the Camping World parking lot:

It got down to below 40° that night but our Heater Buddy kept us warm.  We slept in until 9:30!  Unheard of for us.  I guess it was being worn out from all the Christmas.  We stopped at WalMart to get a few things and then headed out.

It is only around 40 miles to Pasadena so the drive was short and uneventful.  About 1/2 of the trailers were there when we showed up and were parked.  Here is a view of some of the trailers:

Urban dry camping at the best.  This evening we got to meet a whole bunch of new people.  It was a good start to the rally.

This weekend, not THAT weekend! (part 2)

Part 2 of the weekend, not that anything wonderful happened.  Saturday started out slow we actually just had lunch at the trailer for a slower pace but my ear was hurting for a few days.  Roxie convinced me to go to an urgent care.  I acquiesced and went.  They suspected an ear infection and prescribed ear drops.  This is good experience for us when we are on the road as we won’t have access to our normal physicians.

We headed downtown Pismo Beach for dinner.  There were numerous bikers everywhere which added to the ambiance.  We ate at Brad’s then headed back to the trailer for a movie in the trailer.  Relaxing day.

Sunday was the day to head back home <sigh>.  We knew we would also gain over 30 degree of heat <ugh>.  We got it all together and headed out.  We stopped at a fruit stand and I took this shot of the whole 55+’ of rig:

We stopped for lunch at Sylvester’s and immediately one of the customers started having a seizure.  Roxie went over to assist another RN that had taken over.  The person appeared to be OK as the ambulance took them away.  We then ordered and had lunch.  Atascadero has a very nice looking city hall:

It was a nice weekend but it just makes us want to go again and again…
